Horrible skin problem;swollen paws...?

My dogs sometimes suffer from horrible skin problems. At first, when we moved to this new house, three of our dogs had some sign of it, but it dissappeared after a while with medical care.





However, there's one dog, who had to be shaved at three months because it was especially bad on him.





Now, with three years of age, it came back to him, but even worse; His skin forms crusts and bleed sometimes, and his paws are very swollen, so that it makes it hard to walk...





Please help by explaining this and the cause!

Sounds like an allergy. I had a problem when the carpet people put new carpet in a screened in porch-the glue they used and the new carpet irritated my dogs' feet and they chewed at their paws and bloodied them.After getting rid of the carpet and the glue no more problem.


If you use any kind of carpet freshener on the rugs or perhaps wash the floor with something the dogs are allergic to.


It could be the brand of dog food you're using, allergies are very difficult to pinpoint. The vet might want to do some allergy skin testing on the doggies. Good luck

Reply:eczema, or an allergy from grass or even some plants like "wandering jew" there a lot of plants animals are allergic too.put Aloe Vera on it. but try not to let him lick it off.

Or they maybe suffering from an allergic reaction to something in the environment, this can be treated with allergy medication (benedryl, chlortrimazole 1mg/lb) and omega 3 fatty acids purchased at drug stores, vet offices, or GNC stores. These skin problems may require antibotics and antiinflammatories at times. If you have an older pet he/she may have a thyroid problem you can get a blood screen done to test for this.
Reply:Mange, allergies, parasites, infection, immune deficiency ... a number of things could cause the symptoms you are describing.





I beg you to please have your dog examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible.





This will not only get you a proper diagnosis, but also with your vet's recommendations you can take care of the immediate problem at hand -- which is that your dog must be in great discomfort and possibly a lot of pain. Bleeding crusty skin and paws swollen to the point that your dog can't walk normally are symptoms that are past the point of "wait and see," so get your dog to a vet right away.
