What kind of skin disorder or health problem can dogs get?

I have a female-red nose pit. She has always been in great health. In the past month she has started to get bumps or lesions, brownish black. They ooze, and then she ends up loosing patches or small areas of her fur. Its started to run down her legs, and under her belly. On the inside left lower belly, she has a larger than normal spot where her skin looks irratated, and has lost fur. Ive tried moisturizing dog baths to see if it had to do with dry skin. Shes a beautful dog. Anyone have any clue what could cause this or what it is?

Did your vet do a skin scraping and send the sample off to the lab for a culture??

THAT should be your next step. You need a proper diagnosis to recieve effective and proper treatment to eliminate the issue at hand. Good luck!
Reply:Cushings and mange are the first things that pop into my mind. :(
Reply:She could have some type of mange? You will need to visit a vet as soon as possible, Infections like this can be fatal. Good luck :(
Reply:This could be a number of problems ranging from skin allergies to mange. You should take her to the vet for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. I would avoid over-bathing her until she can be seen by her doctor.

A good friend has a male pit with recurrent skin problems. They always seem to get worse when it is cold outside. They make it a habit to inspect him regularly, even if he isn't showing a flare up, so he will be used to being handled.
